LATWAN BANKS: THE BALLOON ARTIST BEHIND THE HUDSON VALLEY’S MOST EPIC BALLOON MOMENTS

Hudson Valley Balloon Artist, Latwan Banks

HB: Latwan, your balloon designs have become a staple for high-profile events. What sets Madeline’s Room apart from the rest?

LB: It’s all about the experience. I don’t just create balloon installations—I create Instagrammable moments that feel effortless and chic. My clients want something beyond the typical balloon setup. They want custom colors, unique textures, and magazine-ready aesthetics. Whether it’s a corporate event, a luxury brand activation, or a private celebration, I make sure every installation looks as stunning in person as it does on camera.

HB: You’ve worked with some major brands like HBO Max and Interscope Records. How does your creative process evolve for different clients?

LB: Every project is different, and I love that. For a corporate event, it’s about brand alignment—making sure the balloons seamlessly fit into their visual identity. For a private event, I focus on creating a mood. I don’t just think about balloons; I consider the space, the lighting, and the overall aesthetic. It’s all about the details.

“Growth, but on my own terms. I want to continue curating events that excite me and collaborating with brands that align with my vision.”

HB: Your work has been featured at exclusive venues across the Hudson Valley and beyond. What’s your favorite type of event to design for?

LB: I love a challenge. Grand openings, luxury brand activations, and high-energy celebrations are my sweet spot. But I also have a soft spot for philanthropic events—using my artistry to support causes that matter is incredibly fulfilling.

HB: What’s next for Madeline’s Room?

LB: Growth, but on my own terms. I want to continue curating events that excite me and collaborating with brands that align with my vision. I’m also thinking about how to use my platform for mentorship and philanthropy, especially for women in business and the underserved communities in Orange County, NY. It’s about impact, not just aesthetics.

HB: What’s your creative process like?

LB: My best ideas come when I’m in my zone—usually with house music playing all day long. It’s a staple in my morning routine after meditation, prayer, and a workout, and it keeps my energy high while designing and prepping for events. Each balloon installation starts with a vision, and I pull inspiration from architecture, fashion, and color theory. I’m also obsessed with texture and movement, so I consider how the balloons interact with the space.

HB: You’re constantly on the move, designing for events in across the Hudson Valley. When you’re not working, how do you recharge?

LB: I’m a mom, so a lot of my time revolves around my family. But when I get a moment to myself, I love catching up with friends at some of my favorite Newburgh spots. Blu Pointe has the perfect Friday Happy Hour vibe, and Bar 190 and Visit always have something interesting going on. The owner, Noah, is usually behind the bar at Visit, crafting cocktails that feel like true works of art. The atmosphere, the creativity—it’s the perfect place to unwind and feel inspired.
