Running a balloon decorating business in Newburgh, Poughkeepsie, and Goshen, New York, has taught me invaluable lessons. Here are some of the most challenging yet transformative moments that have shaped Madeline’s Room Balloon & Event Decorating Salon.
A Tough Lesson
This event didn’t go as planned, all because I ignored my instincts. Despite many red flags, I booked it and ended up losing money. This experience taught me the importance of trusting myself and always having a solid, signed contract—especially for large balloon décor jobs in Newburgh and surrounding areas.
My First Organic Balloon Design
One of my early attempts at organic balloon décor for a Poughkeepsie event. While it looked beautiful to me back then, I now appreciate how much I’ve grown since that project, creating stunning balloon arches and backdrops for clients in the Hudson Valley.
Misaligned Expectations
A Goshen client expected more than I delivered, reminding me of the importance of clear communication. Ensuring that clients know what to expect, whether it’s a balloon garland for a baby shower or a grand opening balloon arch, is key to successful collaborations.
Overcoming Challenges
At this event, the client bypassed their event planner’s recommendation and chose me. Despite the planner’s discomfort, I delivered beautiful balloon décor that met the client’s vision, thanks to my years of experience in corporate HR and retail.
Madeline’s Room Balloon & Event Decorating Salon is proud to offer custom balloon arrangements, arches, and backdrops for events across the Hudson Valley, including Newburgh, Poughkeepsie, and Goshen, NY.
